In the seventeenth chapter of the Gospel According to John, Jesus charged and challenged his disciples to be in the world, but not of the world.

Although the Quinceañera is not a Sacrament, it remains an important time in a Latino/Hispanic girls life. The Quinceañera celebration has been seen as a good opportunity for a teenage girl to grow in discipleship and can be a grace-filled experience for her; as well as for her family and friends who accompany her.

This book is neither a "party planner" nor a "to-do guide” as compared to the vast array of books that focus on celebratory checklists, financial planning, and directory of recommended services. Rather than focus on the commercial, this book’s planning is geared as a Catholic Quinceañera guide to maturity and growth, with clear Christian values to be taken into the world. This book brings together both the social and religious aspects of this rite of passage, in a way, with practical formation, that can help equip the young woman of faith to find balance between her place in the world and her place within the Body of Christ.

Preparing for the Blessing of the Fifteenth Birthday is presented as a sacred time to reflect on cultural traditions of the past, discerning how to observe in modern times, as well as mature teachings of the Catholic Church. Not to discourage a party, nor to up-sell the commercial of the Quinceañera either. ⛪🇻🇦

The goal of this book is to bring Christ into the Quinceañera(celebration) that the Quinceañera (girl) may take Christ wherever she goes. Whether she seeks the Consecrated Life or Matrimony. Whether she seeks work in a Church setting or seeks to maintain Christian identity in secular schools and jobs, as Laity or as a religious sister. Rediscovering cultural traditions with religious purpose. ✝️

Vision

This book was written for a young lady preparing for young adulthood, celebrating her Coming of Age with a Quinceañera Blessing. A young girl of 13 to 14 years of age would benefit the most from this book as she prepares to celebrate her life journey with a Catholic Quinceañera Mass. Other young ladies, some of these traditions have been finding their way into Sweet 16 celebrations recently, when they do not celebrate a Quinceañera. 👸🏻

This book was published for Parents who desire a more meaningful milestone in this rite of passage for their daughter, encouraging significance that is longer lasting than just the day of the celebration alone. Seeking that their daughters Quinceañera experience - the planning, the celebrating, the empowering - may become a lasting part of her identity into womanhood. The guidance in this book can also help parents meet their daughter in the midst of her tension. Her young tension in trying to remain faithful to the Church (seeking a Quinceañera Mass), appease Abuelo/Abuela (honoring and preserving cultural traditions), and still fit in with her social group in school (true identity, as opposed to a reputation), while making her parents proud to invest in her journey, because the Quinceañera can be quite an investment. 👑
